Off the Al Boraq at Rabat-Agdal or a train at Rabat-Ville? BoxSpot's Rabat point isn't in either station, but it's 10 minutes by petit taxi from Agdal and 17 minutes on foot from Rabat-Ville. Route, hours and prices.
Key Takeaways
The Al Boraq stops at Rabat-Agdal; Rabat-Ville is the downtown station, served by Al Atlas trains.
BoxSpot's point (Saberbest, 13 bis avenue Madagascar) is about 2.2 km from Rabat-Agdal (8 to 10 min by petit taxi) and 1.3 km from Rabat-Ville (17 min on foot).
Open 9am to 10pm, except Thursday: 3pm to 10pm only.
9 MAD per hour per bag, 4-hour minimum (36 MAD), capped at 59 MAD for the day.
You step off the Al Boraq at Rabat-Agdal, or off an Al Atlas train at Rabat-Ville, with a suitcase and a backpack. Hotel check-in isn't until 3pm, or you're leaving again tonight. Before you see the capital, there's one question: where do the bags go? Here is the honest answer, with real distances, the route from each station and the prices.
Short answerBoxSpot's luggage storage point in Rabat is the Saberbest travel agency at 13 bis avenue Madagascar, near Place de Russie (Océan district). It is not inside either station: it's about 1.3 km from Rabat-Ville (around 17 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by petit taxi) and about 2.2 km from Rabat-Agdal (8 to 10 minutes by petit taxi). Open 9am to 10pm, except Thursday, 3pm to 10pm. Price: 9 MAD per hour per bag (4-hour minimum, so 36 MAD), and never more than 59 MAD for the day.
Rabat-Agdal or Rabat-Ville: which station are you arriving at?
Rabat has two main train stations, and plenty of travellers only find out on the platform.
Rabat-Agdal is the Al Boraq station. ONCF's high-speed train runs between Tangier, Kenitra, Rabat-Agdal and Casa-Voyageurs, so if you're coming from Tangier or Casablanca on the TGV, this is your stop. It's in the Agdal district, south of the city centre.Rabat-Ville is the downtown station, on avenue Mohammed V. Regular Al Atlas trains, from Fès or Meknès for example, usually call at both stations: check the exact station name on your ticket or on oncf-voyages.ma.
If you have the choice, a train that also stops at Rabat-Ville puts you closer to the drop-off point. On the Al Boraq you don't get that choice, but the hop from Agdal is short and easy.
Left luggage from Rabat-Agdal station: 10 minutes by petit taxi
Saberbest is about 2.2 km from Rabat-Agdal as the crow flies. On foot with a suitcase that's a good half hour, which we wouldn't recommend. A petit taxi (the small city cab) is the obvious move, and it takes no planning at all.
Outside the station, take a petit taxi: in Rabat they're blue.Give the address: "avenue Madagascar, Place de Russie". Place de Russie is a well-known landmark, so saying it is usually enough.Ask for the meter ("le compteur") as soon as you get in. Rabat's petit taxis are metered and take up to three passengers.Allow 8 to 10 minutes for the ride, a little more at rush hour.
Left luggage from Rabat-Ville train station: walk or 5 minutes by taxi
From Rabat-Ville the point is about 1.3 km away. With a backpack or a small wheeled case, the walk takes around 17 minutes along downtown pavements. With two big suitcases, or in the midday heat, a petit taxi gets you there in about 5 minutes.
Either way, open the point's location in your booking or on the Saberbest Place de Russie luggage storage page to navigate right to the door.
Spotting the point when you arrive
Saberbest is a travel agency, not a luggage shop. Look for the white "SABER BEST Travel Agency" sign at 13 bis avenue Madagascar (shop no. 1), about 4 minutes' walk from Place de Russie. Walk in and show your booking at the counter: the agent takes your bags, scans your QR code and photographs your luggage with the drop-off time. To collect, you show the same QR code, and the bags are only handed back against it.
Mind Thursdays: it opens at 3pm
The point is open every day from 9am to 10pm, except Thursday, when it only opens at 3pm (until 10pm). If you arrive on a Thursday morning, you won't be able to leave your bags there before 3pm: plan your morning around it, or check the Rabat page to see what's available at that time. Every evening, collection is at 10pm at the latest.
Hands free: what to do in Rabat
The Océan district is well placed for the historic heart of the city. Approximate distances from the point:
The medina: the Bab El Had gate is 10 to 12 minutes on foot. The Kasbah of the Udayas (Kasbah des Oudayas): about 2 km, half an hour on foot through the medina, or around ten minutes by petit taxi.Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V: about 2.5 km, around ten minutes by petit taxi.
An easy half-day loop: the medina on foot, then the Kasbah, a petit taxi to Hassan Tower, and a taxi back to collect your bags. For monument opening hours, ask on site or check official sources: they can change, especially around holidays.
Three situations, three prices
A day trip on the Al Boraq
You arrive at Rabat-Agdal around 10am and leave at 6:30pm. Drop off around 10:30am, collect around 5:45pm: just over 7 hours. From 7 hours, an hourly booking is capped at the day price, so you pay 59 MAD for one bag. Allow 10 minutes in a taxi plus some margin to catch your train at Agdal.
Check-out at noon, train at 7pm
Your hotel wants the room back at noon and your train leaves Rabat-Ville at 7pm. Drop the suitcase around 12:30pm, enjoy the afternoon, pick it up around 6:15pm and walk 17 minutes to the station. Book 6 hours: 54 MAD for one bag.
One night away, back through Rabat
You leave a big suitcase for two days while you take a one-night trip, then head off from Rabat. Two days for one bag: 59 + 39 = 98 MAD.
