Luggage storage at Rabat-Salé airport: what actually exists, and the plan that works

Rabat-Salé is a convenient airport: small, quick to cross, twenty minutes from the centre. It is also an airport you really do not want to reach eight hours early — which is exactly what happens when the room goes back at noon and the flight leaves in the evening. Short answer There is no left-luggage service for travellers at Rabat-Salé airport, and it sits about ten kilometres from the centre. The plan that works: leave the bags in town at the BoxSpot point in the Océan district — open 8am-10pm, seven days a week, 1.2 km from Rabat-Ville station — for 9 MAD an hour per bag, 59 MAD a day maximum. What Rabat-Salé has, and what it does not Rabat-Salé is a human-sized airport: one terminal, a handful of desks, a check-in hall that fills an hour or two before each departure. That format has an upside — you get through fast — and one drawback: there is no luggage storage, landside or airside. Your bags stay with you. Add to that the fact that the terminal is not a place to spend an afternoon: few seats in the public area, few shops, no reason to be there before your check-in opens. Ten kilometres changes everything The airport is around ten kilometres from central Rabat, roughly twenty minutes by road. That is short — but it is twenty minutes each way. Dropping bags out there to come back into town means paying for two trips and losing three quarters of an hour for nothing. So the real question is not «where do I store bags at the airport», but «where do I store them so I do not have to go there early». The plan: keep the bags in town The BoxSpot point in Rabat sits inside a travel agency in the Océan district, avenue Madagascar, four minutes'' walk from Place de Russie. Air-conditioned room, CCTV, staff at the counter from 8am to 10pm — Sundays included. Rabat-Ville station — 1.2 km, fifteen minutes on foot or five by petit taxi. Bab El Had tram — about twelve minutes on foot, your way to the medina, Avenue Mohammed V and Salé. Medina and Kasbah of the Udayas — 1.6 and 2 km, ten minutes by taxi. Rabat-Agdal, where Al Boraq stops — 2 km. It runs on three steps: book online (address and price shown before payment), the agent scans your QR code and takes a timestamped photo, and nothing leaves without that same QR. Flying out of Casablanca Mohammed V instead? Many long-haul flights leave from Mohammed V rather than Rabat-Salé. The point works identically: drop the bags in the morning, spend the day in Rabat, collect late afternoon and take the train to the airport — the service runs from Rabat, either direct or with one change at Casa-Voyageurs. It is also the best-value case: a full day of storage costs 59 MAD, while an extra hotel night just to «keep the room» runs into hundreds of dirhams. Timing an evening flight 12:00 — check out, petit taxi to the point, five minutes at the counter. 12:30-18:00 — medina, Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Kasbah of the Udayas late in the day, mint tea on the terrace above the Bouregreg. 18:30 — collect the bags. The point closes at 10pm, so the margin is comfortable. 19:00 — road to Rabat-Salé, about twenty minutes. You are at check-in two hours before a 9pm departure.
