From Monday 12 to Wednesday 21 October 2026, Rabat hosts the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations. It is the third time in a row that Morocco organises the tournament, and the national team arrives with three consecutive titles, 2016, 2020 and 2024. This edition is also the first under the new format, now held every two years.
Futsal is played indoors, often in the evening, and fans happily come for just one or two matches: arrive by train during the day, watch the match, head back. Here is how to organise that kind of visit.
Short answer
Eight teams, two arenas (Moulay Abdellah and Ibn Yassine), from 12 to 21 October. If you are coming for the day, drop your bag in the Océan district (open from 9 am to 10 pm) before heading to the arena. One trap: the point closes at 4 pm on Wednesdays, and 14 October and 21 October, the day of the final, are Wednesdays.
The tournament at a glance
Group A: Morocco, Libya, Zambia, Algeria.
Group B: Egypt, Angola, Mozambique, Tanzania.
Format: group stage, then semi-finals, a third-place match and the final.
Arenas: Moulay Abdellah arena and Ibn Yassine arena, in Rabat.
The match-by-match schedule, kick-off times and ticketing are published by CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. A Morocco-Algeria group match will draw big crowds: do not wait too long for tickets.
Coming to Rabat for a match
From Casablanca, Kenitra or Tangier, the train is the simplest option. Get off at Rabat-Ville, the central station. The arenas are not in the heart of the city: plan on a taxi, and leave some margin on the evenings Morocco plays, when the whole city heads to the same place.
If you have a few hours before the match, Rabat is easy to explore on foot and by tram: the Kasbah of the Udayas, the medina, the Hassan Tower. Our Rabat and Salé tram itinerary fits into an afternoon.
Why leave your bag in town
A sports arena has no left-luggage for the public, security checks at the entrance restrict large bags, and nobody wants to carry a travel bag through an afternoon of sightseeing and then into the stands. This is all the more true if you are leaving on the last evening train.
