«My hotel keeps my bags for free»: 5 situations where that is not enough in Agadir

Let us be honest first: most hotels in Agadir will keep your bags after check-out, and most will not charge for it. If that is your case and your day revolves around the hotel, use it — it is perfect, and this article is useless to you. It becomes useful the moment your day does not revolve around the hotel. In Agadir, that happens more often than you would think. Short answer A hotel luggage room is excellent in exactly one case: you pass by the hotel again before leaving. As soon as the day takes you elsewhere — an out-of-centre resort, a change of accommodation, a rental with no reception, a day trip to Taghazout, or simply not being a guest — it costs you a return trip, a taxi and usually an hour. Case 1 — Your hotel is not where you spend the day Much of Agadir's accommodation sits south, in the beach sector and Founty, or further north around Taghazout Bay. Your last hours, though, happen in the centre: Souk El Had, the marina, the climb to the Agadir Oufella kasbah, the cafés of Talborjt. Leaving the suitcases at the hotel means going back for them. That detour is a taxi each way and easily an hour out of your day. The maths is quick: five hours of storage in town costs 45 MAD, less than a single return trip. Case 2 — You change accommodation the same day Three nights in town, then a surf camp in Taghazout, or the other way round. The first hotel wants the room at noon, the second only takes you at three, and neither is really «yours» in between. A neutral point in the centre, on the way between the two, settles it without asking anyone for a favour. Case 3 — Apartment rental, no reception desk This is the one that catches most people in Agadir. In an apartment or a rented residence there is no counter: you hand the keys back at noon and your bags end up on the pavement with you. The owner rarely lives in the building and will not come back at 6pm to let you in. Here the question is not «free or paid», it is «is there a solution at all». A drop-off point booked online the night before is one. Case 4 — You are out of Agadir for the day Taghazout, Paradise Valley, Imouzzer, Taroudant, Souss-Massa national park: the region is built for day trips. Nobody hikes to a waterfall with a 23 kg suitcase. If your hotel is on the way, fine. If it is on the opposite side of town, or if you leave early by grand taxi from the centre, dropping the big bag in town saves you the whole detour. Case 5 — You are not (or no longer) a guest A hotel stores bags for its guests. If you came down from Marrakech for the day, if you are staying with family, if you arrive the day before your booking, or if you have come in from Taghazout for an afternoon in town, nobody owes you that service. That is fair enough — and it is exactly the gap a network of open drop-off points fills. And the question nobody asks: what is written down? In a hotel luggage room the handover usually leaves no trace: no receipt, no timestamp, sometimes an open room behind reception. It goes fine most of the time — but nothing is written down.
