Mohammedia is a natural stop on the Casablanca-Rabat line: a seaside town, beaches every Casablancan knows, an old kasbah and a station right in the centre. The problem is the suitcase. You are changing cities, you checked out of the flat at noon, or you want to spend the afternoon on the beach before catching the train again. BoxSpot now has a drop-off point in Mohammedia. Here is exactly where it is, how to get there from the station, and what it costs.
Short answer
The BoxSpot point in Mohammedia is the Troplo Coffee café, in the Hassania district, south of the town centre. It is not inside the station: it is about 2 km in a straight line from Mohammedia ONCF station, a few minutes by petit taxi. Open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 10pm, Sunday from 10am to 10pm. Price: 9 MAD per hour per bag (4-hour minimum, i.e. 36 MAD), never more than 59 MAD for the day.
Who is this point useful for?
Three kinds of travellers come up again and again in Mohammedia:
- Travellers between Casablanca and Rabat. The ONCF shuttle trains linking the two cities stop in Mohammedia. Instead of doing the journey in one go, you can get off, leave your suitcase and continue in the evening on a later train.
- The beach day. Mohammedia's beaches (Monica, Les Sablettes, Mannesmann) draw big crowds from Casablanca. With a travel bag on top, the day quickly gets tiring.
- Check-out day. You are staying in a flat or hotel in Mohammedia, you have to leave the room in the morning, and your train, flight or shared ride leaves at the end of the day.
Arriving in Mohammedia by train
Mohammedia ONCF station is in the town centre. It is served by the TNR shuttle trains between Casablanca and Kenitra and by Al Atlas trains. Al Boraq, the high-speed train, does not stop here: if you are coming from Tangier by high-speed train, change at Rabat-Agdal or Casa-Voyageurs. From Casablanca the ride is short; from Rabat it is a little longer. The exact time depends on the train and the departure station: always check the day's timetable on oncf-voyages.ma or in the ONCF app.
From the station to Troplo Coffee Hassania
The point is about 2 km in a straight line south of the station, in the residential Hassania district. The actual road distance is a bit longer. In practice:
- With a suitcase, take a petit taxi outside the station. The ride only takes a few minutes outside rush hour.
- Show the driver the point's location in your booking, or ask for "Troplo Coffee, Hassania".
- On foot it is doable with just a backpack, but allow at least 25 to 30 minutes of walking. With a big suitcase, we do not recommend it.
Either way, follow the directions in your booking or on the Troplo Coffee Hassania storage page: it is the surest way to arrive at the right door.
How the drop-off works
Troplo Coffee is a café: walk in and show your booking at the counter. The partner scans your QR code and takes a timestamped photo of your bags. To collect them, you show the same QR code: bags are only handed back against that code. Why not have a coffee before you go.
Opening hours: mind Sunday mornings
The point is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 10pm, and Sunday from 10am to 10pm. If you arrive on a very early morning train, you cannot drop off before 9am (10am on Sunday). In the evening, collection is at 10pm at the latest: if your train leaves later, pick up your bags before then.
A beach day, hands free
Let us be honest about the geography: Hassania is in the south of town, the beaches are to the north-east, on the other side of the centre. From the point, Mannesmann, Monica and Les Sablettes beaches are several kilometres away (roughly 4 to 6 km in a straight line). That is not a stroll, it is a taxi ride. The plan that works: drop the suitcase, leave with a small bag (towel, water, sunscreen), then stop by the café again at the end of the day before heading to the station.
Before swimming, ask locally about the day's conditions: the Atlantic can be rough, even in summer.
Three situations, three calculations
A stopover between Casablanca and Rabat
You leave Casablanca in the morning, get off in Mohammedia and drop your suitcase around 11:30am. You collect it around 4:30pm before a train to Rabat. Five hours for one bag: 45 MAD.
Check-out at noon, departure in the evening
You hand back the flat at noon and leave around 8pm. Drop-off at 12:15pm, collection at 7:15pm: 7 hours. From 7 hours, an hourly booking is capped at the day price: 59 MAD for one bag.
Two people, one suitcase each, all day
Two suitcases for the day: 59 MAD for the first, 49 MAD for the second, so 108 MAD. If you stay one more night and leave one suitcase for two days, count 59 + 39 = 98 MAD.
